UltraGrow Special Blend Top Dressing Soil

Special Blend Top Dressing Special Blend Lawn Top Dressing was our first successful attempt at making a better soil mix back in 1987, when only ‘rubbish’ soils were available in the market (and some still are). It could be argued that little has changed.  The current Special Blend formula, though paying homage to the original product, is now certified and is far superior to any top dressing both past and present. This top dressing is a sandy loam from the same source as Turf Blend Natural Soil but it’s been processed through a 6mm screen, making it a fine soil-based top dressings. It’s blended with 20% of our certified Enviro Humus-Compost to add carbon and natural nutrients. It can be used as a robust soil for under and over turf or as a finely screened garden soil.  Boost the performance of this product through the addition of a quality fertiliser such as UltraGrow Revitaliser. Special Blend is passed through a 6mm screen which allows any particles less than 6mm to pass through. Larger particles may still pass through the screens if one dimension is sub 6mm. Loam soil generally has particles ranging from <1mm up to 10mm . While Special Blend is a superfine soil option small “stones” under 6mm in size may be present. The source material can sometimes have a small clay component, which can cause “balling” which presents as small rocks. These are not rocks and will simply break up with the addition of water or mechanical contact, such as that from a soil spreader or shovel. Please note: This product is not recommended for finely mowed lawns maintained with a cylinder or reel mower. For that application, consider using Fairway Pro-MAXX Top Dressing Sand instead.
