Brown patches in lawn can be caused by other problems such as fungal diseases, water repellent soil (dry patch) or even over-application of fertiliser (burning of the lawn) If you are not sure if you have lawn beetles or grubs the best way to find out is to pick a part of the lawn that has a brown patch, mix up some soapy water in a bucket and apply it to the edges of the brown patch, if you have beetles or grubs, they will surface after about ten minutes and will need to be treated.
